Isa and Nick – San Diego

Posted in Uncategorized by studioveritephotography on September 2, 2010

Isa and Nick were a special couple because they already share a beautiful daughter together. It was an honor to be invited to document the celebration of their commitment to each other. Luckily their wedding was near Balboa Park and we were able to use that location as the backdrop to the portrait session. I think the architecture matched the beautiful formal elegance of Isa’s look, and the giant roots were, if nothing else, cool!

Laguna Beach – A portrait from the OC

Posted in Uncategorized by studioveritephotography on September 2, 2010

I am excited to announce that I have been shooting a lot of weddings in Orange County lately as my main base is San Diego. This is a simple portrait I wanted to make a little more interesting. The grooms son was the Best Man in the wedding party so I thought I would take advantage of his “kid-ness” and contrast the adults in the photo.

Bridget and Sean – back in Chicago!

Posted in Uncategorized by studioveritephotography on August 25, 2010

Wow, Bridget and Sean were such an outgoing couple who were up for anything! If you can’t tell by the photos, Bridget is a beautiful woman with great expressions who looks stunning in every shot! I had a blast experiencing Chicago again for the first time since last summer. The ceremony took place at the historic Holy Name Cathedral and reception at the classic Allerton Hotel. I tried to showcase some of the city as well as capture emotion. To view more photos of this wedding, more will soon be displayed at http://www.pictage.com/900199 Enjoy!

It’s Summertime. Anna and Russell

Posted in Uncategorized by studioveritephotography on August 19, 2010

I thought since we are in the dog days of a hot summer here in Illinois, it would be fun to share this summer-inspired portrait of Anna and Russell.  Russell is a lifeguard, and his wife Anna well, she just plays one on TV.  I half jokingly asked if she could stand on the platform with Russell.  She hesitated for all of one second and accepted the challenge.  I think it was her years of ballet training that gave her the confidence to model with such poise and calmness at that height.  This shot was made during daylight hours in overcast skies with key lighting provided by a shoot through umbrella.  I normally don’t do a heavy amount of lighting during outdoor shoots, but I thought the strong and diffuse lighting would give nice highlights and shadows during otherwise flat lighting conditions.  Shout out to Ben Jenkins for his wonderful lighting assistance.  Congrats Anna and Russell.  Enjoy the remainder of your summer before you head back to the classroom.

Lauren and Craig – Downtown San Diego

Posted in Uncategorized by studioveritephotography on August 10, 2010

I shot the wedding of Lauren and Craig when I was about 9-months pregnant. That was over 3 months ago, and I still wanted to share few images from their big day. Lauren got ready at the Sé Hotel in San Diego’s Gaslamp district. I loved the architecture and it provided me a great scene for portraits. Enjoy!

Katie and Andy

I wanted to share some of my favorite images from Katie and Andy’s wedding.  These images are shot by both myself and my good friend Candice C. Cusic.  Enjoy.

A beautiful moment as Katie’s father sees her for the first time.

Natural silhouette against a photograph of the John Hancock Building.

Candice C. Cusic made this intriguing and quiet image of Andy.

Hair prep.

Candice grabs Andy’s smiles.

The bagpipes were a complete surprise to Katie and Andy.

Cheezborger cheezborger.  It’s a Chicago thing.

Beautiful light and the blue wall.

One of Andy’s signature dance moves.

Cheers!

Katie and her dad threw in some choreography!

I love this dancing shot that Candice grabbed.

Dos Amigos. Alexa and Jeff.

My shoot with Jeff and Alexa marked the second time I photographed my friends for an engagement session.   Jeff asked Alexa to marry him at the seaside village of Puerto Peñasco, Mexico.  It was here that we did the engagement shoot.  It was extremely windy during our scheduled shoot time.  As a result much of the shoot was done at the resort we were staying at.  The other half of the shoot was done at little areas of town that have sentimental value to Jeff and Alexa.

A Moment from the Archive

This is a shot that went overlooked and I just ran across it as I was re-organizing some photos. It is from a wedding at the University of San Diego last summer. Thanks!

It’s all about moment and emotion.

Posted in Uncategorized by studioveritephotography on June 6, 2010

I was spending some time editing Katie and Andy’s wedding this afternoon.  Yes, I should be outside, but I’m putting in some computer time this afternoon.  I wanted to share this image as it really stood out to me in my edit.  This was the moment Katie’s father saw her for the first time on her wedding day.  I love how he grabbed both of her hands and really soaked up the moment.  I was focused on their hands when he turned toward the others in the room and revealed the emotive quality of his face.  I can feel this image.  More images from Katie an Andy’s wedding are on the horizon.  Thanks for looking.

Jonathan and Hugette – Madison’s Overture Center

Posted in Uncategorized by studioveritephotography on May 25, 2010

Jonathan and Hugette’s wedding on Sunday was on the hottest May 23rd on record for the city of Madison, Wisconsin.  It was over 90 degrees and very humid.  Imagine how uncomfortable that was for the groomsmen who were wearing Irish wool suits.  A look as sharp as it was uncomfortable. After a minimal portrait session outside, where even the shade took it out of you, I was very excited to return to the Overture Center for a little indoor portraiture.  I loved the modern and graphic interiors of this building.  Most of the building was an austere white.  But there was one exception.  There were beautiful purple steps that could be viewed from an opening in the rotunda floor.  When I saw this scene I knew I would ask Jonathan and Hugette to sprawl out for one specific photograph.  It would be a tricky pose to execute for them because of the uncomfortable nature of resting on steps.  After a few tries I made this frame.  I love the graphic nature of the lines, the color, the body language and most importantly the touching moment between them.  Jonathan and Hugette…congratulations!
